GTA Launches Programme to Train Graduates, Support Tourism Businesses

The Ghana Tourism Authority has introduced a new programme to train young graduates and tour guides to create jobs and improve tourism services across the country.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, said the initiative is aimed at equipping young people with skills and opportunities in the tourism sector.

She explained that the programme will also provide beneficiaries with vehicles under a flexible arrangement to help them transport tourists and generate income.

According to her, the initiative will further support small tourism businesses such as hotels and chop bars by offering funding and logistics assistance to improve their operations.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Tourism Federation, led by Seth Ocran, has introduced a separate initiative to support women in tourism.

The programme targets women, especially those running chop bar businesses, and aims to improve their access to finance, tools, and other resources needed to grow their enterprises.

The combined efforts are expected to strengthen the tourism sector, create employment, and support business growth across the country.
