Having children isn’t a ticket to heaven – Nikki Samonas

Ghanaian actress Nikki Samonas has made it clear that she is not succumbing to societal pressure to marry or have children, emphasising that both are deeply personal decisions that should be made with careful thought and at the right time.

In an exclusive interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the 40-year-old actress addressed questions about motherhood and marriage with characteristic candour.

When asked why she does not yet have a child at her age, Nikki responded that she feels no pressure whatsoever. "Not really," she said. "If it comes, fine. If it doesn't, fine."

She added that she is, in fact, very fertile and therefore takes extra precaution. "In my family, the women are very fertile – if you joke around, you will take seed. So I am very careful. But it will come at the right time."

The actress went further, challenging the widespread perception that motherhood is the ultimate achievement for a woman. "Childbirth is the gateway to heaven, is it?" she asked rhetorically, questioning whether society unfairly elevates childbirth and marriage as the only paths to fulfilment.

Nikki's remarks have since sparked conversation, with many praising her for speaking openly about choosing to live on her own terms rather than yielding to external expectations.
