Nana Ama McBrown pushes for TGMA to pay stars invited for 'Red Carpet' appearances

Nana Ama McBrown, an award-winning actress and television personality, has called upon the organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) to provide financial compensation to celebrities invited to attend the Red Carpet.

In a discussion on Onua Showtime, McBrown pointed out the considerable expenses incurred by celebrities in preparing for such events, especially those not nominated or performing.

She contended that it is unfair to expect celebrities to bear significant costs for outfits, styling, and preparation without any form of recognition or support.

"The TGMA cannot invite me to a Red Carpet event without a song; they are aware of the costs involved," she stated, highlighting that her presence should be valued.

McBrown reminisced about previous instances where organisers provided fabric for guests to design their outfits, making the Red Carpet event competitive, glamorous, and memorable. She observed that such initiatives elevated the event's prestige and fostered creativity among attendees.

McBrown noted that celebrities who are not nominated attend primarily to support the industry and entertain the audience, and therefore deserve compensation for their contribution.

She emphasized that attending the Red Carpet event is not merely about visibility but also about investing in the image of the awards.
