A/R: Police arrest two suspects over kidnapping, murder of Senegalese goalkeeper

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested two foreign nationals over the alleged kidnapping and murder of Senegalese goalkeeper Cheikh Toure in October 2025.

The suspects, 32-year-old Nigerien Salifu Walid and 24-year-old Burkinabe Aziz Wadrago Mane, were arrested on September 20 at their hideout in Banpanase, near Mamponteng, in the Ashanti Region.

Police investigations indicate that the two are part of a four-member group that allegedly lured Toure into Ghana under the guise of offering football scouting opportunities before kidnapping and killing him.

Toure’s body was found abandoned at the Manhyia District Government Hospital on October 16, 2025, by three unidentified men believed to be foreign nationals.

Police say the two suspects admitted their involvement and mentioned Noukoubri Arzouma Sylviain, alias Prince Pierre, as an accomplice who is currently on the run. Another suspect, identified only as Barry, is also being sought.

The two suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be put before court as investigations continue.
