Galamsey Fight Not a Priority for NDC Government — Hon. Akwasi Konadu

The Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Hon. Akwasi Konadu, has accused the NDC government of failing to make the fight against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, a priority.

According to him, the government’s approach to the galamsey menace is worrying and could allow illegal mining activities to spiral out of control if urgent measures are not taken.

Hon. Konadu warned that the continued expansion of illegal mining poses a serious threat to Ghana’s environment and water bodies, and called for stronger and more decisive action from the government.

He further urged the government to demonstrate genuine commitment to tackling galamsey before the situation becomes even more difficult to control.
