GES warns against malpractice as WASSCE kick-off

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a stern warning to students and stakeholders regarding the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) theory papers, which commence tomorrow, emphasizing the importance of upholding academic integrity.

Speaking at a press conference, GES Director-General Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis underscored the severe consequences of exam malpractice, highlighting its propensity to undermine the quality of education and yield inaccurate assessments of learning outcomes.

Prof. Davis announced that 509,862 candidates, including 225,274 boys and 284,588 girls, will sit for the exams across 1,017 centres nationwide. He encouraged students to prepare thoroughly and warned against seeking external help, citing measures to prevent cheating.

The GES has collaborated with security agencies to ensure law and order at exam centers and warned supervisors and invigilators to maintain professionalism or face sanctions.
