GNFS receives Mercedes-Benz fire tender donation from UK-based Fire Aid

The Ghana National Fire Service has been presented with a Mercedes-Benz fire tender and other vital firefighting equipment by UK-based Fire Aid and International Development to augment emergency response operations nationwide.

The donation was officially handed over during a ceremony at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

The event drew officials from Ghana and the United Kingdom, highlighting sustained international collaboration to improve fire and rescue services.

Among dignitaries present were Deputy Minister for the Interior, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, and Chief Fire Officer of the GNFS, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sapong, together with other senior officers of the Service.

The UK delegation was led by Robert Somerled Macdougall, Chief Fire Officer of the Oxfordshire County Council, and Storms Menri of the British Royal Air Force, whose efforts facilitated the transportation of the fire tender to Ghana.

Officials say the donation forms part of broader initiatives by Fire Aid and International Development to support capacity building within the GNFS and improve operational readiness across the country.

The newly donated fire tender is expected to boost firefighting operations and enhance the Service’s ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
