Government clears $29m Suame road debt, boosts project with GH₵3bn funding

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has announced that the government has settled the $29.5 million debt owed to contractors working on the Suame Road project.

He made this declaration during an inspection tour of the project on Tuesday, April 28, and emphasized the administration's commitment to completing all inherited road projects.

Mr. Agbodza also revealed that the government has approved an additional GH₵3 billion to expedite construction and enhance the quality of work on the project. He indicated that the Suame road project is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2028.

"We are still on schedule to complete the interchange itself. We are not diverting funds from the interchange project; instead, we are allocating an additional GH₵3 billion to improve it," he stated.

"We intend to complete this project by the end of 2028, but the section we are currently standing on will be completed by the end of this year," he added.
