Landlord allegedly kills tenant over GH¢30 utility dispute at Medie

A middle-aged man, Opoku Agyemang, has been reportedly stabbed to death by his landlord over an electricity bill in Medie Ketewa, a suburb of Medie in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The 37-year-old victim, who is survived by a wife and three children, allegedly owed his landlord GH¢30 for the electricity bill. Despite their landlord-tenant relationship, Opoku and Koranteng, the landlord, were reportedly close friends.

An eyewitness, Enoch Idan Danquah, stated that the landlord invited Opoku to his room for a discussion regarding the electricity bill payment.

During the conversation, the landlord allegedly drew a machete and fatally stabbed Opoku. The 50-year-old landlord, Kofi Koranteng, who has five children, fled the scene after committing the alleged crime, and the case has been reported to the police for investigation.

The Kotoku police have conveyed the body to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.

The circumstances surrounding the argument over the GH¢30 electricity payment are still unclear, as Opoku and Koranteng had been colleagues for a long time.
