NIA Workers Begin Indefinite Strike Over Conditions of Service

The staff members of the National Identification Authority, under the auspices of the Public Services Workers’ Union of the Trades Union Congress, have announced their intention to proceed with a nationwide indefinite strike, commencing on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

They are demanding the immediate approval and implementation of migration reports pertinent to their conditions of service.

In a joint statement issued by union leaders Godsway Ayivor and Bismark Francis Bangfudem Nyuzaghl, members across the country have been directed to abstain from work from midnight Tuesday onwards, until further notice.

The union has also instructed regional executives to monitor compliance with the industrial action at all NIA offices nationwide.

Furthermore, workers facing challenges during the strike period are expected to report directly to divisional leaders for assistance.

The industrial action is likely to impact services at NIA offices across the country, including Ghana Card registration, card replacement, and other identification-related services.
