Police inspector interdicted, remanded over alleged robbery attack on MoMo vendor

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has suspended Police Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah, who serves at the Asuoyeboah Police Station, over his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor in Kumasi.

The officer was taken into custody by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit following an intelligence-led operation.

A search conducted at Inspector Dankwah’s residence resulted in the seizure of a Bruni Model 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and cash amounting to GH¢9,835.

According to a statement signed by DSP Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Command’s Public Affairs Unit, the suspect was arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on Monday, May 11, 2026.

He was remanded into police custody and is expected to reappear before the court on May 29, 2026. The Police Command is currently investigating the case.
