Police stray bullet injures SHS student during Danchira demolition exercise

A 19-year-old senior high school student, Nii Lamptey, is currently receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre after being struck by a stray bullet during a police operation at Danchira.

The incident occurred when officers attempted to disperse a group of residents who had gathered during a demolition exercise on a 700-acre piece of land.

Witnesses reported that tensions escalated when some residents began attacking the Danchira Police Station, prompting police to respond.

The student was caught in the disturbance and was hit by a bullet amid the efforts to control the crowd.

Authorities have not yet commented in detail on the circumstances leading to the shooting.
